SA HOTEL - DAY TRIPS - CAPE TOWN

If you are looking for a romantic and exciting destination, Cape town is the place to be. With excellent hotel accommodation central to all the tourist destination and beautiful beaches, there is a passionate mix between nature and city. With so much to see, day trips are the ideal way to plan your trip.

TRANSPORT

Touring the city means to base yourself in a good hotel, hire a car for the day/s touring and bring a map. Cars are affordable and convenient. There is a well established road network and most places are signposted, but it is advisable to get a map of the area, mostly available from your hotel. A car will allow you to tour at your own pace and to change or adjust the day trip should the weather be unsuited.

BOOKED TOURS

Taxis are also available with two categories available. By law the metered taxis are only allowed on call out and could make your trip pricey. Mini Bus Taxis are widely used by the locals are in ranks situated around the area, but not advisable unless you have a thorough knowledge of the area and the people as they follow designated routes and are sometimes unsafe to tour in.

BUS SERVICES

To take a trip to the waterfront there are buses. Available around the waterfront area link services in the city centre and Atlantic Seaboard. The buses are clearly marked going to and from the Waterfront and run 7 days a week. One route departs from Breakwater Boulevard outside Victoria Wharf and travels as far as Sea Point. The city route has departs outside the V&A Hotel and goes as far as Adderly str. Bus stops for buses returning to the front are clearly marked along the route.

HELICOPTERS

This day trip is one to be remembered, touring by air is exciting, with a number of helicopter charter companies are available operating within the waterfront providing services to the airport, over the harbour, to the winelands, around the peninsula. Trips during bad weather could be uncomfortable or postponed.

WATER TRANSPORT & TOURS

Day Trips on small to large vessels, for sea charters deep sea fishing, open water yachts,or just touring around the harbour. Weather permitting, tour cruise are available. Simon's Town yacht basin is also ideal. With 4 star luxury accommodation in easy reach, restaurants and shopping it is beautiful docking in the Naval Base Simons Town - this classic town rich in history and culture, is well worth the trip. Found in False Bay with in easy distance from Cape Town, with whales, Penguins, and seals, world heritage bird life and deep sea fishing. There are regular sightings of whales between June and October mostly Southern Right Whales and is an ideal day trip destination.

Bantry Bay Luxury Suites - This hotel is in a central location within easy access to the city centre, V&A waterfront and to Hout Bay. In the heart of the Platinum Mile this hotel offers luxury hotel suites and semi suites, there is also a hotel boardroom available for up to 12 persons with internet and other facilities available.

Simons Town Quayside Resort - this classic town rich in history and culture, the hotel is found in False Bay with in easy distance from Cape Town, with whales, Penguins, and seals, world heritage bird life and deep sea fishing. There are regular sightings from the hotel and surrounding areas of whales between June and October, of mostly Southern Right Whales.

Leisure Bay Luxury Suites - this Accommodation sports a view with 4 star luxury suites with a view of Table Mountain and only sea facing suites. Perfect for functions, the hotel's restaurant is sheltered and can take up to 35 indoor guests and 20 outdoor guests. Within easy reach of the Cape Town attractions.

V&A WATERFRONT ATTRACTIONS

The V&A Waterfront is situated between Table Mountain and Robben Island with shopping centres and 2 Craft Markets, containing over 400 shops, and 35 restaurants and the 2 Oceans Oceanarium, this could be a day trip on its own. There are pantomime artist, musicians and african dancers and much more to keep you entertained. Ideal for the rainy day. The shops include supermarkets and the Red Shed Art and craft market, the largest indoor market of its kind for a uthentic african curios also including a leather and glass shop african rock creations, pottery, pewter and jewellery with south african gold and diamonds. The Red Shed Art and Craft Market is found adjacent to Victoria Wharf.

V&A WATERFRONT CRAFT MARKET & WELLNESS CENTRE

For Micro business and entrepreneurs, found next to the 2 Oceans Aquarium, with traditional hand crafts and holistic lifestyle accessories. Includes wire art, bead work and canvas art and woody mobiles.

SHOPPING CATEGORIES

The Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre contains the bulk of the shopping area including boutiques, retailers, coffee shops, restaurants, and fast foods. The Alfred Mall and Pierhead - overlooking the small craft harbour and adjacent dry dock and within the historic pierhead. This mall contains places with curios, jewellery, artifacts, crafts and an optometrist.

SHOPPING COMPLEX

The Coen Steyler entrance gives access from the airport, city centre side and is the more popular route. From Sea point and Green point the Beach Road entrance is the most accessible.

CLOCK TOWER CENTRE

The latest addition to V&A Waterfront, arts, crafts, food are all found together, including an outdoor apparel store for all your outdoor accessories shop, leather sandals, sunglasses and the traditional South African biltong. For the diamond specialists and the emergency medi- clinic this is the mall to be. The Portswood Entrance feeds onto the Coen Steytler Highway and then to the Northern and Southern Suburbs. The Waterfront has multiple services for any emergency - Medical foreign exchange car wash computicket dental surgeries and a host more.
