Intranet home page
This is the first page and of vital importance. From here
the users will browse to the various modules and this is
also where key info will be displayed. Intoweb spends a
large amount of time on the graphical look-feel of this
interface to ensure that it is user friendly and pleasing
to the eye.
Staff details (telephone system)
This is an electronic telephone list. It is alphabetical,
with personal data such as birth dates, years at the company,
picture (if available) of the employee, extension, cell
number, home number etc.
Leave management system
This system allows employees to manage their own leave,
and to know how much leave they have available at any one
time. They can go on the system, type in the leave dates
and submit it. This request gets routed to the leave administrator
and approved or rejected (there normally is more than one
leave administrator- the employee’s direct boss) Leave
taken, leave available and potential leave all gets shown
when in this module.
Policies and information
A static page that simply states the organizations core
values, policies, procedures, etc.

Web sites of interest can be listed under a links page.
Project management (with Gantt charts)
A very nifty module that allows the manager to monitor various
projects on the intranet. A project will be entered and
allocated to an individual or group headed up by someone.
Progress dates and milestones will be entered and the project
timeline will be created on the fly. As the project gets
done, the individual will enter the milestones, the Gantt
chart will be dynamically generated and the manager will
be able to view progress at a glance. This is especially
powerful for top-level management that need to monitor numerous
projects simultaneously.
Local news
The skinder news of the office. Beula is having a baby boy,
Dave will become the head of the speed reading club, and
everyone in IT will be getting a performance bonus.
International news
General news that may be of interest for the employees.
Newsletters
The newsletters are stored here in a database, allowing
employees to view old newsletters and see the most recent
one.
Internal sales
Allows everyone in the organization to post info and items
for sale on this page (old mountain bikes, home made rusks
etc.)
Events (calendar)
An electronic calendar that will show what is happening
when.
Boardroom booking
One of the biggest frustrations in many organizations is
the double booking of the boardroom. This module prevents
this from happening by having the boardrooms being booked
via the intranet. With a calendar linked to it, everyone
can see who else has booked a boardroom, and when. There
are quite a few unique features in this system, as an individual
or group can book the boardroom once, daily, weekly, or
monthly.
This module caters for any special requests along with the
booking (i.e. tea & scones or an overhead projector).
The Intranet e-mails the relevant parties in control of
the tea girls or the hardware, and lets them know of the
booking and what is needed.
Any number of boardrooms can be connected to this module.
External telephone list
A telephone list with telephone numbers of people outside
the organization.
Document warehousing
A complex and involved system that allows documents to be
sorted by categories and divisions. There is a built- in
search facility that will facilitate the search of documents.
The admin section allows for various sub sections in which
the documents could be stored. This module is uniquely built
for each client and the price may vary according to the
complexity of the document management system. There will
be the facility to scan documents with character recognition.
Document (hard copy) management
A complex and involved system that allows documents to be
sorted by categories and divisions. There is a built- in
search facility that will facilitate the search of documents.
This module is uniquely built for each client and the price

The system is similar to asset tracking and merges Internet
technology with bar code scanners. Thus each file gets a
unique bar code, and the file can be tracked by scanning
in the code. Booking the files out of the filing department
is simplified, and the use of each file can be monitored.
Should 2 people need the same file at the same time, it
becomes simple to track down the other person.
Invoicing system
Allows the creation of invoices online, using an invoicing
template and storing all invoices in a database.
Client database
All information on clients of the organization (similar
to the telephone list)
Sales database
Allows a sales team to enter sales mode, manage client information,
and generates commissions on the fly.
Online Training systems
A brilliant system that trains employees up in whatever
software they need to know. This module uses voice, animation
and text to simply and effectively show how to use any system.
Programs already completed are GroupWise and Outlook 2000.
